In this eagerly awaited follow-up to
The Lion's Game, John Corey, former NYPD Homicide detective and special agent for the Anti-Terrorist Task Force, is back. And, unfortunately for Corey, so is Asad Khalil, the notorious Libyan terrorist otherwise known as "The Lion." Last we heard from him, Khali had claimed to be defecting to the US only to unleash the most horrific reign of terrorism ever to occur on American soil. While Corey and his partner, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, chased him across the country, Khalil methodically eliminated his victims one by one and then disappeared without a trace.
Now, years later, Khalil has returned to America to make good on his threats and take care of unfinished business. "The Lion" is a killing machine once again loose in America with a mission of revenge, and John Corey will stop at nothing to achieve his own goal -- to find and kill Khahil.

This is the review of the audio book. I listened to the first couple of tracks three times to get into this book. By the second CD I was hooked. Does this book have problems? Yes, there were too many subplots. For that reason it is impossible to give a summary.
John Corey was introduced in a previous book. He has a acerbic sense of humor. Terrorist, Asad Khalil is determined to kill Corey. He promises a very painful end for Corey beginning with killing someone close to Corey and then stripping the skin off of Corey's face. Telling you more would be giving away the plot.
This book has not stop action, most of it more than a little bloody. I like this book, but that doesn't mean it is flawless. I enjoy thrillers and this is definitely a thriller. |

| Took a little longer than expected to get the book. This book starts very quickly and keeps on moving quickly through the entire book. I would definitely recommend this book to others. |

| John Corey versus The Lion, round two. I enjoy everything Nelson DeMille writes, but I'm a particular fan of John Corey. This followup to The Lion's Game may not be quite as engrossing as the first volume, but it's fun, exhilarating, and riveting reading all the same. I always look forward to DeMille's next offering, and I'm never disappointed. The Lion is no exception. |

| I just finished The Lion, the follow up book to the Lion's Game. I have to say that anyone who had a bad review of this book should stop reading and try another hobby. This was one of the very best books I have read from DeMille (and I have read almost all of his books). This book was such a page turning, nail biting, heart stopping story that I just couldn't put it down. I read it everywhere. Especially getting near the end it was just impossible to put down. I am totally in love with John Corey. His quick wit and smartass remarks is worth its weight in gold. Truly one of the best authors there is. I am so depressed right now that this book is finished...I wanted it to last another 1000 pages. I am looking so forward to the next DeMille book. |

The Lion by Nelson DeMille
John Corey former NYPD detective and now a member of the Anti-Terrorist Task Force faces the return of his evil nemesis, Asad Khalil, The Lion. Khalil is a terrorist assassin who has sworn to kill Corey and his wife. The ensuing confrontation is gargantuan.
John Corey details the friction and differences between the button down FBI and the gritty NYPD. This book is set in a post 9/11 situation where terrorism is faced daily. The fast paced adventure mystery is violent and engaging. I did not expect to laugh out loud but the John Corey character spouts some lines that elicited a full blown guffaw.
I'm a bit concerned that I identified so strongly with Corey's reaction to being threatened. His actions and feelings seemed quite realistic and acceptable considering the circumstances. This book was an exciting and quite sobering read.
I highly recommend it.
